Homeless Population Up In Fresno County | Fresno, California | FresnoBee

Fresno County’s homeless population increased by more than 600 people last year, according to a one-day count conducted early this year.
The Point in Time Count 2011 released Thursday by the Fresno-Madera Continuum of Care shows 616 more people were homeless in Fresno County in 2010, compared to 2009.
The report counted both the “unsheltered” homeless — people living on the streets, in a tent, shed, encampment or vehicle — and the “sheltered” homeless living in emergency shelters or in rooms paid for with housing vouchers.
