Providing Hope: Playground Will Cheer Homeless Children | Tallahassee, Florida | Tallahassee.com

Among the most vulnerable members of Tallahassee’s homeless population are the children who miss, and need, some sense of normalcy until their parents or guardians get back on their feet.

In Tallahassee, where families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population, children can find refuge while staying at the HOPE Community. Its campus on West Pensacola Street is a community resource that has helped more than 1,200 people rebound since it came into existence in 2005. That includes about 500 children.

But the HOPE Community wouldn’t exist if not for the generosity of local residents and businesses, where volunteers and benefactors are willing to address one of society’s most glaring realities instead of ignoring it.
